Mayor's Message

Intensifying the Executive-Legislative Agenda

Written by Maragondon on .

New administration entails new approaches and strategies. It’s not enough that you have bright ideas, you have to concretize them.

And with this, Mayor Rey A. Rillo headed a workshop on Executive-Legislative Agenda Formulation on September 19-20, 2013 at La Travieza, Buenavista II, Gen. Trias Cavite. Among the attendees were Vice Mayor Ireneo C. Angeles, SB Members, Department Heads, Consultants, PSI Toribio A. Asa, SFO2 Rene Cayas, Dr. Diana P. Topacio(District Supervisor), and MLGOO Rory G. Buhay together with the speakers from the DILG.

The workshop was a fruitful one. All the participants shared their ideas as to how we should manage the local government and formulate new vision and mission attuned to the present state of the municipality. Fresh minds merged as one. They have set goals, objectives and targets within a given time frame.

It all boils down to consolidated efforts that would set forth the standards of public administration.

Re-interment of the remains of General Emiliano L. Riego de Dios

The biggest event for the history of Maragondon!

It has been long overdue. We should have done this before.

For the past years, we are celebrating Araw ng Maragondon on September 7 in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Gen. Emiliano and Mariano L. Riego de Dios. That was just right and necessary in honoring our great heroes.

But, this year’s celebration depicts a totally different approach. Mayor Rey A. Rillo together with the descendants of Gen. Riego de Dios headed by Mr. Rody Narvez deemed it necessary to bring back the remains of their “Lolo Nonong” (Gen. Emiliano) to his homeland-Maragondon. Proper coordination with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines drove their aspiration into a reality.

On September 6, 2013 at 3:00 in the afternoon, fellow Maragondonians pay tribute as they welcome the remains of Gen. Emiliano L. Riego de Dios exhumed from the North Cemetery. A Requiem Mass was held at Iglesia Filipina Independiente on 6:00 P.M.,followed by a vigil offered by different organizations.

September 7-The day it was. The re-interment of the remains of an intrepid man, of a great hero, came on his 149th birth anniversary. The historic event graced by His Excellency Vice President Jejomar C. Binay was truly impressive. Executive Director Ludovico Badoy of the National Historical Commision of the Philippines, Cavite Mayors’ League President Enrico Alvarez, Mayor Jun Dualan(Naic), Mayor Herminio Lindo(Ternate), Mayor Walter Echavarria(GMA), Mayor Edwin Sisante(Magallanes), Mayor Bienvenido Dimero(Indang), Provincial Administrator Efren Nazareno and Dr. Victoria Pamienta(Schools Division Superintendent) have shown their support to Mayor Rey A. Rillo as he led the municipality in this worthy endeavor. Military honors were given to Gen. Emiliano L. Riego de Dios during the re-interment of his remains at the grave site.

On his message, Mayor Rey A. Rillo expounded the important role that Gen. Riego de Dios took part in Philippine Revolution. He also mentioned that the embellishment of the statues of Gen. Emiliano and Gen. Mariano Riego de Dios was just a simple act of gratitude to their heroism and contribution.

Laudable by many, the whole event only reminds us that with sheer determination and solidarity, Maragondon can be great again.
