As early as 5:00A.M., town folks from different barangays stationed at the front of Municipal Hall on September 07, 2014 to join the whole municipality in celebrating its 287th Founding Anniversary and annual conduct of Alay Lakad. Participants from business sector, education sector, religious sector and other non-government organizations filled the crowd and started the walk at 7:00A.M.
The program formally opened with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Lino N. De Castro. After which, a wreath laying ceremony was put into place in commemoration of the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of General Emiliano L. Riego De Dios (September 7, 1864 - February 4, 1926), a native of Maragondon, Cavite, a revolutionary leader and the secretary-general of the Asociacion de los Veteranos de la Revolucion.
Maragondon Ladies Association, Office of the Senior Citizens’ Association, Veterans Federation of Maragondon, Magtagumpay Lodge No. 410 Free and Accepted Masons and Mt. Mainam Lodge No. 49 Free and Accepted Masons, Banco Maragondon, Maragondon Water District, Department of Education(Elementary and Secondary level), PUP-Maragondon Campus, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Liga ng mga Barangay, Sangguniang Bayan, Riego de Dios Clan and the Office of the Municipal Mayor participated in the wreath laying ceremony.
Police Director Ricardo Cornejo Maruez, Director for Operations of Philippine National Police graced the occasion and served as Guest Speaker. Mayor Reynaldo A. Rillo described him as the man who spends himself in a worthy cause, the man who strives valiantly, a man of honor and dignity and a man with great vision.
The much-awaited street dancing competition put so much excitement in the occasion. This years’ competition was participated in by 14 public elementary schools and 4 public high schools.
Garbed with costume made from bamboo, enhanced with dancing skills, trained with breathtaking moves, student dancers once proved that Maragondonians are truly gifted with talents.
Pantihan 3 Elementary School and Sta. Mercedes Elementary School tied at first place. Pantihan 2 Elementary School grabbed the second place while Bucal 2 Elementary School got the third place.
Among the winners in high school level are Maragondon National High School(First Place, Bucal National High School-Sta. Mercedes Annex(Second Place) and Bucal National High School(Third Place).
Pantihan 3 Elementary School got the Overall Best Costume Award.
A Slogan Making Contest was also part of the event. With the theme, “Sa Bagong Maragondon 2014, Kagalingan ng Kabataan Responsibilidad ng Bayan”, among the winning entries are:

Raffle draw with Three Major prizes and 10 Consolation prizes were given away during the celebration.
Ms. Joyce L. Pugong(The Voice of Cavite First Runner-up), Ms. Janella Anne B. Velasco(Mutya ng Maragondon 2014) and Ms. Precious Nicolle P. Diloy(Miss Cavite 2014, Representative for Miss Southeast Asian Beauty Pageant 2014) also joined the event.
